Human development

Development is a human process, in the sense that human beings, not material factors, drive development. The energy and aspiration of people who seek development form the motive force that drives development. People's awareness may decide the direction of development. Their efficiency, productivity, creativity, and organisational capacities determine the level of people’s accomplishment and enjoyment. Development is the outer realisation of latent inner potentials. The level of people's education, the intensity of their aspiration and energies, quality of their attitudes and values, skills and information all affect the extent and pace of development. These factors come into play whether it is the development of the individual, family, community, nation, or the whole world.

Social intelligence

Social intelligence is the capacity to know oneself and to know others. Social Intelligence develops from experience with people and learning from success and failures in social settings. It is more commonly referred to as “tact,” “ Common sense ,” or “street smarts.” Social scientist Ross Honeywill believes social intelligence is an aggregated measure of self- and social-awareness, evolved social beliefs and attitudes, and a capacity and appetite to manage complex social change. Psychologist , Nicholas Humphrey believes that it is social intelligence, rather than quantitative intelligence, that defines who we are as humans. The original definition by Edward Thorndike in 1920 is "the ability to understand and manage men and women and boys and girls, to act wisely in human relations". With the increasing adoption of blockchain technology, the role of an accountant will change but not be eliminated. Think of mechanics. You still need the mechanic, but the mechanic will have new things to learn. The new technology will let accountants spend their time on the highest leveraged activities. Consider the role before Excel. People thought Excel would do our work for us, but it didn’t. But it is a better spreadsheet and made the job easier. Technology is changing at an exponential rate. Ignorance and apathy will put the slower movers at a disadvantage. It is expensive and it is complex, but if you don’t experiment with it, you will be in danger of falling behind. Now, remember when you first saw the internet? What about when you received a PC or a laptop? It is just another tool. It is a new tool that will change the role but not to make it obsolete. Those accountants who can embrace new technology, AI and blockchain will be well ahead of the game.
